Hi,… The whole nine yards How to drape a nauvari Wrap it around you once, and tie a knot to secure it Then wrap it around a second time for the pallu, which is normally an arm’s length Now take the rest of the sari and make pleats, turn them in the direction opposite to the direction of the pallu, roll the upper end of the folds, and tuck them into the first wrap Divide the lower end of the folds into two Take one fold from the left and pull it behind At the back, make pleats the size of the sari border and tuck them in over the pallu wrap Pull the end of the pleats from the right to the waist and tuck them in to form a pocket. hi pankti, the nine yard saree ----maharashtrian nauvari sari,is worn without a sari petticoat,it is worn this way- 1) open the sari and hold it behind in such a way that roughly a quarter of the sari is to ur right and the rest to the other side. 2)tie a knot using a bit of sari from both sections.this will serve as a petticoat so make a good tight knot. 3)now the left/longer part needs to draped like a normal sari one layer around u and then second loose layer and pallu over the shoulder, the loose layer must be pleated up and tucked into the knotted part. 4)now the u will see the smaller portion loosely hanging that needs to be and pleated similarly to ur front pleats but less wider, now take this pleated thing between your legs and and tuck it with a pin if u want. 5)your sari is ready now just cover your right shoulder with the pallu from behind. i hope i was clear enough.all the best.

The Maharashtrian nauvari style of draping a saree involves wearing the nine yards of fabric in a style that is traditional to the region. In Tamil Nadu, certain sections of society wear the nine-yard saree in a wrap around style sans pleats

1. Tuck the plain end of the saree into the petticoat and continue tucking till you take a complete turn from right to left. Adjust the lower end of the saree to the height required. Ideally wear your footwear so that you drape the sari to the right length.

2. Create pleats with the sari. About 6 – 9 pleats would do with most saris. Here it is essential to see that the pleats are even and fall straight.

3. Tuck the pleats into the waist petticoat, taking care to see that the pleats are turned towards the left.

4. The remaining portion of the saree must be turned once around the body and then draped over the left shoulder.

5. Arrange the pleats on this part of the saree and then pin them up on the left shoulder to prevent the pallu from falling off.

Before draping the saree, ensure that you wear a well-fitting blouse and petticoat. Do not wear a flared petticoat. Getting a fall stitched on the saree bottom ensures a better drape. While some women prefer to wear the top portion of the saree loosely over the shoulder and allow the rest to fall gracefully, others pin up the front pallu in pleats for a neat look. Use a pin to secure the pallu on the blouse to prevent the sari from falling in front.…
