Query from: DIANDRA SHARMA, Malaysia, 06/23/08
Topic: SHOPPING      Submitted on: Ammas.com
Subject: BEST TYPE SAREE FOR BIG SIZED WOMEN

I wish to buy a saree for my cousin's wedding which is gonna be special to me. I live in Malaysia, am a big sized lady aged 38. My body is bulky and a little fair skinned.

What type of saree should i buy? Mysore silk or rangoli? Also kindly let me know wat is the best or latest arrival of sarees in town, in malaysia pls. Cos the last time I bought a saree (2 yrs back), many commented that the saree is old fashioned looking and suits a 50 - 60 year lady

You should wear Rangoli saree in your cosuin's marriage. You shold not feel old yourself. You can also wear designer beeded work saree. Nowadays these are in fashion. You can see some of designs at www.snehalcreation.com/sarees.htm…

If you are having a slightly bulky body, you should definitely go for Chiffons as they make a person look slim. As for colour, you are fair, so you can choose light pink, light orange or even yellow. But generally, for evening parties, dark colours are best. You can go for royal blue, maroon or magenta in this case.

Don't worry about the old fashioned belief because all old fashioned things in traditional are back in fashin like brocade, zari, Zardosi, hand embroidery etc. So, just go for what you like.

As u told u can buy mysore silk saree. It will be suitable for u and u look thin in that . don’t wear cotton sarees .u look fat in them.u can also wear pure silk sarees. But they will not suit for marriage purpose.

If u’r cousins marriage is in India ,u can buy good variety sarees in India. There will be so many varieties in India which will be suitable for u . if u don’t go India also,u can ask any of u’r friends who are coming from India to bring for u any saree u want and which is latest one.

Generally for marriages in India ,only pattu sarees , the woman will wear. U can buy any pattu saree if u want . with that saree u can look fat but they are famous in India and no one will tell u anything .

Now a days in India ,latest trend is wearing any embroidery saree . u can buy any of that saree according to u’r budget . u can get embroidery sarees from 500 rupees to any rate u want .so see them and get matching jewelry to it .u look good and slim in light embroidery sarees. U can get light embroidery sarees from 3,000 to 15,000 indian rupees.

see for that sarees whether they are available in u’r malasia . I think u can easily get them in any malasian shop. Or see for it in Indian shops which are available there.

Hi,

Going by your desciption I would suggest that you go for the latest designer sarees in Crepe or georgette. Do not opt for heavy embroidery work. Go for sober colours preferably with embroidery on the borders and pallu with light buttas on the body. THis will make you look slim and elegant and also be fashionable as per today's trend.

I hope this helps. Cheers, Sunitha
