Recipe for Mooli ki chutney

Mooli ki chutney

Noted down from Television and modified it to suit to the summer and good health.

No. of servings: 1

List of ingredients:

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 No. mooli (large,fresh)  
  • 2 Nos. green chillies  
  • 5 Nos. red chillies  
  • 2 tbsps. mustard seeds  
  • 1 tbsp. fenugreed seeds  
  • 1 cup fresh coconut (grated)  
  • 3 tbsps. coconut oil or til oil  
  • 1 tbsp. jaggery  
  • 2 tbsps. tamarind  
  • 1 tbsp. salt  
  • 4 tbsp. coriander leaves  
  • 4 tbsp. kadipatta leaves  
  • 1 tbsp. mint  
  • 4 tbsps groundnut roasted  
  • 2 tbsps black gram dal or udad dal  
  • 1 no. onion  

Cooking procedure:

Wash and grate the mooli and fry in a pan with little oil alongwith onion until the water is vapourised. Keep aside and heat remaining oil and fry fenugreek,udad dal,groundnut,red chillies,green chillies, well and add to it, kadipatta,mint,coriander,tamarind pieces and coconut and mix well and lastly add mooli and onion and salt. Now add jaggery and raw mustard seeds and grind to paste and serve.

Additional Info:

Mooli leaf and the vegetable if eaten, good for health, esp., after the patient recovers from jaundice. These gratings if mixed in fresh,beaten curds and salt to taste, becomes delicious raita.

You may also prepare Drumstick leaf chutney with same ingredients. Add quarter spoon turmeric powder and omit mustard seeds.
