Subject: Building up confidence

Dear Ammas,my son is 7 yrs old.According to his teachers,he is obedient,well-mannered and disciplined. I'm also satisfied with his studies. But his teachers say that he is rather shy.Also,while speaking on stage,he does not make eye contact.I try to praise him for his work like good drawing/coloring,good handwriting etc. But how do I convince him to look up and speak while performing on stage?Also,he is very submissive.If some other kid hits him,he doesn't hit back.I don't know how to make him practical in this selfish and mean world.
