Query from: gayathri, India, 02/24/10
Topic: PARENTING      Submitted on: Ammas.com
Subject: feeding time intervals

Thanks for your answer. But I have a query. I will have to join my work by the end of three months for my baby. So can I give her only formula milk instead of breastmilk? Will that be enough? Shouldnt i give her Cerelac too? If so, at what time intervals should the child be fed? Please advise.

You can give your child breastmilk till such time you join for duty. Introduce some other milk like cows's milk or tinned milk also to your baby so that the child will mot find it difficult to adjust with the taste. After three months the baby can be given semi solid food like cerelam, nestem etc. Feed the child before you start to office . After 1-2 hours whoever is taking care of the baby can give it cerelac , ragi etc . The child should be given water once or twice after the main feed. In the afternoon say 3 p.m give her some tinned milk or the milk available in the house after adding a little water and boiling it. Need not add sugar in the milk. Before 6 p.m give her another course of semi solid food-say ragi or cerelac. Then after you come from office, first thing you have to do is squeese out the milk from breast and clean your breast so that when you feed yr child after a while he/she will get fresh milk.

yes you can give cerelac. You can reduce the breast feeding slowly.Intially start with 1 cup per day (in afternoon) with morning + evening + night breast feeding. After one month give 1 cup in the morning too.Change varieties of cerelac.but give warm water no and then.its good for digestion.
