Before Shifting your existing medical policy Let the new Company know that You need the existing policy to be renewed then take the suggested form where you will get a form for carrying all the existing benefits like no claim benefits etc to be shifted. Before Paying the premium if you check this u will not get messed up.

The mediclaim policy comes unde rteh category of General Insurance, which are largely valid for a period of one year. At the term expiry of such a policy a new policy is issues by the existing policy provider based on previous mediclaim history of policy owner and his/her health , age and other such factors. SInce these policy are term policy each time you renew them, they are treated as new policy wether you renew your old one or shift to other policy provider. It is only tha life insurane policy are long term policy and such renewals are not required, for any other kind of policy, be it Medical, AUto, Home etc are usually fiz term.
