Hi, You have not mentioned whether you have rented the apartment.

A renters insurance covers damage to or loss of your personal property. Whether you rent from a house owner, a property manager, or a university (as a student living in a dorm), You must have purchased a renters insurance. Some landlords require you to purchase renters insurance. If so, this would be stipulated in your lease agreement as a term.

If so, you must check up your insurance policy as some insurance companies offer coverage for damage of water pipe or failure of plumbing system. If your policy covers the above damages, you can enforce the clause and derive benefit.

If you have no renters policy or your policy does not include the clause, you may check up your lease deed if such clauses are specifically covered there and proceed accordingly.

Alternatively, if you are the apartment owner, you may check up your policy for coverage of this clause and verify with your insurer also before proceeding.
