You are not authorized to work until you receive your EAD. The SSN in and of itself is not employment authorization. I urge you to refrain from working before getting your EAD - it is employment without authorization and may have negative impact on your H-1B or other future immigration filings. Employment Authorization Document (EAD) for L2 visa holders L2 visa holder are eligible to work in USA, with a permission or approved EAD card. An approved EAD allows to work or business. To obtain an EAD card, you must file the following documents with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS): ** Complete Form I-765 , Application for Employment Authorization. **Filing fee - Check or money order for $180 as of Oct 26, 2005. **Two identical color photographs as per the acceptable specifications. **Copy of your current passport **Copy of the USCIS Form I-94, Arrival-Departure Document issued to you when you entered the U.S. **Copy of L1 petition , I94 as a evidence that you are a spouse of the principal visa holder.

If you are married and if your spouse holds US citizenship then you can work on L2 without EAD.Otherwise you need to have EAD to get a job in US.

You must get EAD with L2 VISA to work in usa..if your wife is us citizen, then not necessary. Without EAD,u may not get your pay and ,green card and H1B visa’s sanction and process will be difficult. http://www.immihelp.com/immigration… c the link for details.TC

Dear Mansi It is illegal to do a job with out EAD. If u do it and if u are caught then you will be in big trouble. SO don't ever take chance of doing a job without EAD. Anyway you can see the website USCIS.com to have full details about EAD. SO please go through that.
