Booking a hotel accommodation is sometimes free. It's like reservation. Whereas a vacation package requires some payment while booking the package and you may have to forgo a part or full remittance made, for canceling or altering the schedule. If the question is specific about booking with a cheaper hotel (advance paid or not paid) for a schedule period but the stay was limited or made shorter than specified, that don't cost you any penalty. You will be charged only the time you stayed in that hotel. Normally for online booking they would ask for one day payment and further the stay can be extended if needed.

Its probably best to ask where you book the package. Its probably a special rate for a time and if you decide not to stay the entire length the choice is yours. I doubt if you will get a refund on the nights not stayed at the hotel.

It is not a good idea to leave before the length of your stay.

Some hotels, if you're using a credit card, will charge as most $500 in penalty fees for checking out earlier than scheduled.

The big six hotel chains across the world charge $350 to the maximum of $500 for early checkout before actual checkout date. But if you're visiting a foreign country (excluding the U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. Territories), it is wise to stay the whole time.

Hotels in the U.S. Virgin Islands and U.S. Territories are not customer-friendly to those who check out earlier than scheduled.
