I will tell you the step by step guidance to stich a Salwar Pyjama for you.

1. First, take the measurement of your Shoulder, Chest and waist. Also do keep in mind about the neck measurement as it differs from person to person.

2. Then cut the cloth according to the measurement.

3. Since you already have the cloth and the measurement so it now to design the shleves. Now- a- days, shleves till the elbow is in fashion. Empire cut is too much in fashion. you call go for it.

4. First go for the Kurta. After that go for Pyjama as normal.

Hope you will get a perfect fiting if you keep in mind that the measurement should be perfect according to your body.

If you need any help in future then do feel free to contact me anytime. i would love to offer further suggestions.

Here are the steps to stich the Chudidhar pajama:

1.Take a old chudidar that fits u well.

2.keep it on the folded cloth of the same length that is two length front and back.

3.Now mark it and cut it.

4.Now the most important part is to cut the neck and sleeve.

5.u need to have basic knowledge but still can mark and cut the neck be careful to seperate the front from the back before cutting the front after u have finished with the back.

6.now keep the same sized material below the cut neck space and make a small sized front and back backing for the necks.

7.this will be 2" all over ur front and back neck size on the outer side from the neck. now stitch the neck side on the right side of the fabric and turn over to the wrong side and hem the corners.

8.attaach the sleeves and fold the sides before finishing the lower bottom with a double fold . now for the bottom also u need to cut the material by stretching the centre down in the bottom section to know the length reguired for ur seat area and then cut it.

9.here u may have to attach cloth if u r big made otherwise it would be enough.

10.take a separate piece for ur hip as it would be smaller than the seat area and cut it fold and make for the string area and connect the fabric of legs after finishing from the back give more gathering to the front side always attach pin to get the best effect so that u dont redo it again.

Try with some old cloth first then if it turns out good stich the new one.

hii chudidhaar mesarments.. READYMADE MEASUREMENT

* full length = 105 cm * Narrow waist = 39 cm * Bust level = 25.5 cm * shoulder = 38 cm * chest = 92 cm * Waist = 72 cm * Hip = 100 cm * sleve legth = 25 cm

measurements according to the diagram

* 1-2 = full length + 3 cm = 108 cm * 1-6 = arm hole = (chest/4)-2.5 = (92/4)-2.5 = 20.5 cm * 6-7 = chest loose = (chest/4)+2.5 = 25.5 cm * 1-10 = narrow waist = 39 cm * 2-11 = bottom = (chest/4)+10=33 cm * 1-3 = neck breadth = chest/12 = 7.6 cm * 1-5 = front neck = chest/8 = 11.5 cm * u can keep the same length for back neck else back neck = chest/12 = 7.6 cm * 3-8 = shoulder = shoulder/2=38/2 = 19 cm

Now using the below pics you can have an idea how to stitch chudithar top. Using the stitching pattern i've drawn the pattern on a chart. If your gonna stitch in your measurement , take your chudithar and measure it with a inch tape and draw the stitching pattern.

First take the cloth fold it lengthwise first , next fold breadthwise . After that you can place the stitching pattern and mark the edges using marking chalk. The material i've used has a lining material too so first im gonna cut the lining material then the outer material. Beginers never cut both materials together. After cutting the lining material , next im gonna cut the outer material. Be carefull that you dont disturb the cloth. Then cut the outer material. Next join the front pieces and back pieces by stitching them throughout the edges. Next you will have seperate front and back piece. Next stitch the neck part using crosspiece or lining using extra cloth. Next stitch the shoulders of both piece together. Next cut the sleeve part, here i have used 3/4th sleeve and have taken only the outer part so that it will be transparent. Stitch the sleeves to the arm hole. Next the sitch two sides. Fold and stitch the openings below hip. After the sleeves are attached the final outcome , the chudithar top is ready. vist the following web site you can understand properly http://www.learnstitching.com/2008/… www.bieap.gov.in/foundation.pdf…

Hi Yogita !

Sew salwar kameez is a profession like any other profession. Salwar kameez can be sew as per given measurements. The perfect sew of salwar kameez is like making other items are a result of practice or a result of invested time with dedication in the art.

As the experience grows, the perfection comes in sewing the salwar kameez and sewer becomes as master. Masters, normally follow the formulas for sewing as per their experience.

The following are the process for sewing salwar kameez · Body Measurements · Cutting the material · Designing process · Sewing process · Hamming process · Interlocking process

The first step to make salwar kameez is body measurements

· Kameez · Chest · Breast · Waist · Hips · Armhole · Neck diameter · Shoulder (broadness) · Sleeve length · Elbow circumference · Wrist circumference · Front neck depth

Salwar

· Waist · Hips · Length · Inseam · Bottom

Cutting is an important process while sewing salwar kameez, so an expert master is required for that. There are no hard and fast rules for cutting but normally masters make their formulas by own for their satisfaction. And cutting margins and seam allowances are depending upon the fitting desired by the client.

In case of designer’s salwar kameez make, there may be different component with some work on it like embroidery, thread net etc. Parallel process is to prepare these components.

Sewing is based on the cutting as the cutting marked by the stitching line. Sewing man will sew as per the marking.

After completion of the machine sewing, the hand hamming process is to be done with the help of neddle and thread.

Interlocking is last machine process to give an additional strength to the salwar kameez so it is interlocked with good quality thread with zigzag style.

The complete sewing process is upto the finished product.

Desire gives birth to new things. Similarly Churidar Salwar Kameez is a result of a desire. Desire changed or modified the traditional salwar kameez into churidar to look sexy and slim trim.

Churidar Salwar Kameez is not exactly like a traditional salwar kameez. It is not wide as the salwar in traditional salwar kameez. There is a lot of difference in between the curve and cuts of churidar and traditional salwar. The Kameez may be same as it is in the traditional salwar kameez.

In churidar salwar kameez, the salwar has more length if we compare with traditional salwar salwar length, because wrinkles come on the ankle in churidar salwar. The top part has the belt like traditional salwar kameez and pleates also. In churidar, the upper portion of the salwar is not wide spread like traditional salwar, it is 4-5 inches loose than the hips measurements. There is a tunnel on the top portion for drawstring like the traditional salwar.

In totality churidar has a leg like shape with few inches margin for leg movements.

The upper portion “Kameez is same as traditional kameez. Normally it is long upto knee with long or short sleeves as desired. There are long side slits and bottom curve may be round and straight as per desire. Churidar comes under the basic design category.

Hope this info may help u !

Hi Yogita,

The best way to cut and stitch your churidar for yourself is by taking apart your old churidar that fits you well.

You can invert your churidar and place it on paper and trace the outline, making sure to add an inch or more to allow for sewing the seams.

Once the outline is complete, cut the paper to make your pattern for churidar. Use the pattern to cut and stitch your churdar in the future.

Be sure to start with an inexpensive fabric first and then when you feel comfortable you can use the nicer fabrics. All the best with your project!

Hi Yogitha! Let me tell you how to stich a kurthi properly... * Always have the shoulder measurement taken properly by someone.See to it that you take it correctly so that it sits on yur shoulder well. If its too short...The sleeves get dragged onto the shoulder and you cant even raise yuor hand...If its long, then your shoulders will show off.

Now take a measurement for the sleeves length... Flap hands(bell shaped at elbow) or capsleeves or mega sleeves will do fine.

Now its important to take chest measurement and have it one inch less than it actually is.This will facilitate ease.

Now take the waist and hip measurements.

Then take the length of the cut in the sides from where you want to start it near the waist and till the bottom length of the kurthi. If you are of heigth less than 5'4 or so take a length of 43-47 so that you look a little tall. Prefer short kurthis till knees with chudi legs if you are not so short or plump because it looks nice. After these measurements, decide proper neck and also decide how deep it has to be..Its generally good to have 6 inch in front and 5-6 inches in back..Sleeves, for short sleeves 4-6 inches goes fine too.

Now cut the cloth and make sure you cut it out 2 inches to two and a half inches extra on each side. Its better to have a lining cloth too.It prevents the cloth from strain that leads to tearing or easy wearing away.

Now after cutting the cloth in a proper shape, Cut out the neck andif you want a zip in the back, see symmetry from each side in the back,i.e., cut it exactly in the middle and you can sew the zip and make sure you have some cloth on one side to cover the zip.You can make it look nice with a thin dori with ghungru at the end too or some beads.

Now sew the cloth with the measurements taken and stich two or three more lines so that you need not cut and sew for alterations and inspite just open the inner stitches if its too tight. It is for this reason we suggest you to leave some cloth on all sides.

Now do the peco part at bottom too.Attach sleeves carefully.

Your churidhar is done now.Make sure that yuo put some trendy necks as shown in the document that i have attached. Not so neatly sketched but sure are interesting to try out.

Now take cloth for pyjama and take your waist and hip measurements and then legs too if you want a chudi.Else this is enough for a pakisthani or punjabi model. All yuo have to do is cut the cloth in a pyjama shape and its neeter if you have an old one for measurement. Make sure you measure the length of the pyjama properly.

As this is the first time i hope, for you, try out for some old cloth and then try sewing a new one.

Have someone experienced in tailor works to supervise you while you do this.

Hope you stich the suit well and look fabulous in it.

Have a good time!

hi,

Salwar Kameez or Shalwar Kameez is a dress normally worn by North Indian and traditional dress worn by various peoples of south-central Asia.

Salwar or bottom part is a sort of loose Pajama like trouser of the Salwar Kameez suit. Traditionally it is wide from top. It has 4 to 5 inches belt attached to rest part of the salwar which is pleated. Upper part of the Belt has tunnel for drawstring. Normally the traditional salwar size from top at waist area is almost double as the actual waist size to make it comfortable to wear. Salwar has big room at the thigh area for comfort ness. Salwar has almost double bottom size as the circumference of the ankle so as to make proper space for the feet to put inside for wearing.

Traditional Kameez is normally long up to knee with wide circumference (Gher) and with full sleeves. It is almost fully covered from the back as back neck line depth like 2-3" and medium low at the front like 6-7" inches as front neck line depth. It is wide or broad at neck like 6-7" inches to put the head into the Kameez.

Some tips on Salwar Kameez

* The kameez should be a little longer in height. It makes you look taller. If your height is around 5 feet 3 inches then your kameez height should be around 47- 48 inches. * If you have broad shoulders then avoid wearing puffed sleeves. * If you have fat arms and therefore cannot wear sleeveless then go in for sleeves of about 5 inches length. This will hide the flab on your arms and your hands will look thinner. * Salwar Kameez can be worn in many styles. Styles keep changing with Trends. Recently big bottoms were in fashion and now short Kurtas Are back in vogue. * Chudidar looks good on long kameezs or Kurtas. Avoid wearing them on short Kurtas. Chinese collar (closed neck) makes you look tall, but avoid it if you have broad shoulders. * Wear a Salwar Kameez around your naval area, as it will pull in your stomach. * If you have the tie strings on your side, it reduces the look of the paunch. * Tucks might be out of fashion but they give a very good cut to the Kameez. * Avoid Organza or any stiff cloth if you want to look slimmer. * Dark colours like maroon, red, blue or brown look very good on dark women.

Do you know how to stitch a churidar & pajama?

If you dont know then either visit a tailor or else try an experiment with a waste cloth.

You can obtain sketches of churidar & pajama from any professional tailor or from tailoring classes by paying them some fees.
