Both these receipes are from my own experience Cooking apple(Slightly tart) 4 ea Brown sugar 3/4 a cup Cinnamon powder 1/3 of teaspoon lemon juice 1/2 lemon All purpose flour 3/4 cup Butter(soft) 140 gms Oats(optional) 50 gms. Salt a pinch.

Method

Mix the flour, soft butter, half the sugar, oats(optional),cinnamon powder and rub it with your fingers till you get a crumbly texture.if you want you can add coarsly chopped walnuts or cashews to this mixture to get a nutty taste. Peel and core the apples to remove the seeds and cut into thick wedges.Mix with the other half of the sugar,a pinch of cinnamon, salt and lemon juice and place it in a buttered oven proof dish in a even layer. Top the crumbled flour/sugar mixture on top of the apples evenly. Cook this in a preheated oven(180 degree celcius) for about 30- 35 minutes till the crumble turns to a golden colour and the apple tender. It is better served warm with a scoop of smooth vanilla icecream or whipped double cream on top.

Tip The flour/sugar crumble mixture can be spread on a baking tray and can be cooked beforehand in a preheated oven (160 degrees c)fror 30 minutes and stored in a plastic container with a tight lid on. This comes in handy when you dont have time and all you have to do is cook the apples seperately ,top with the crumble mixture and finish in the oven(160 degrees celcius)for 15 minutes till the apple is cooked.

Serve this with a dollop of whipped sweetened crean or icecream.

To Make apple crisps/crispy apple slices This method is for making apple crisp slices which can be used as a garnish or just by itself as a snack.

Apple(sliced thinly) 1 Sugar syrup(! part sugar i part water, lemon juice) 50 ml

Prepare the simple syrup with sugar, water and lemon juice and cook untill it forms a syrupy consistancy. Dip the sliced apple into the sugar syrup and place it on a greaseproof paper and allow it to dry for atleast 1 hour Once it is completely dry peel it slowly from the paper and use it as required as a garnish

Or Slice apples thinly and place it on a greaseproof paper and sprinkle brown sugar mixed with cinnamon powder and cook in a warm oven (225 degrees) for 40 minutes and turn it over, sprinkle brown sugar/cinnamon powder and cook for another 40-50 minutes untill the apple becomes crispy.

Allow it to cool and peel.Store in a airtight container for futere use.
