Hi,

This is a popular saying in South indians particularly the grand maa's in Andhra feel that chapatis increase the heat in the Body. And also they dont consider it as a meal. And along with chapati if you take a glass of butter milk/ a cup of curd this will keep the body cool.

A healthy body temperature is maintained by the nervous system. As the body temperature increases, the body tries to maintain its normal temperature by transferring heat. Sweating and blood flow to the skin (thermoregulation) help us keep our bodies cool. A heat-related illness occurs when our bodies can no longer transfer enough heat to keep us cool.

Chapatis will not increase heat in the body, this is not proven too.

If you dont wish to take curd/butter milk drink milk daily/ take some calcium supplements.

When U eat chapathi with some curry, later u hv to take some green salad, butter milk or curd with sugar. So chapathi will not increase heat in your body at all. And one more thing, if you are habituated eating chapathi from ur childhood days, no problem at all. If you have started eating chapati's recently, it will take some time to set ur body. But onething is must when you take chapati's in you lunch make sure that later you also take some juice like lime juice, butter milk, coconut water, sugar cane juice, lassi etc. But onething eating chapati daily in lunch or dinner is a good habit. Please I tell you to continue with your habit in future also.

wheat flour is agood source for iron and calciumand contains a lot of fibre as well. As it is we should be taking 50%of our energy index from carbs.I personally dont think that three chappaties will increase body heat, having said that a expert nutritionist will be able to give you the best advice

No, if you take chapathi regularly, there will not be any harm to your health. Most of the North Indians taking chapathi regularly in their lunch and dinner. Nothing happened to them. Instead of much rice you can eat chapathi.

hi ramya, three chathis by themselves wont increase ur weight.what is important is what r u taking with chapathis, imean curry/achar/salad etc.although chapathi is a good form of energy giving carbs and essential fibre.but it is important to eat it with supplementary food like curry...bcse chapathi alone can increase ur body sugar level bcse of the natural starch it contains...lol

Hi Ramya, yes somewhat it is true as ur not taking fruits curd and buttrmilk, only chapathi will produce heat. Chapathi will produce heat to keep body warm thats why mostly in northern region people take chapathi and in south indai we eat rice.with chapathi u can take bottle guard, snake gourd or green veges which will keep ur body cool.

yes..it is true...scientifically it is trash but elder peoples says it by experience..for me it is true..if you are eating chapati's daily u must drink yoghurt..otherwise heat forms in the body.the body shows it in many ways like gastric, pains, urine burning etc..atleast you try to drink juices of melons and drink plenty of water..

Chapattis are good compared to bread and any maida parathas, you will not put on weight or create heat in the body. Of course, at the same time, you should balance your diet by having something with proteins and calcium, like lentils, chicken or curds, etc.

Dear Ramaya, No eating chapatis would not increase the body heat.Rather chapatis eaten with lentils, veggies is a wholesome meal.Even if u are too worried abt the heat things, u can balance it out by eating more fresh salads, seasonal fruits, juices, butter milk etc. Remembers heatly balanced diet is must for healthy body and mind...excess of everything is bad.... Best Wishes Sukirat
