Dear ravi ,

Cat fish is called UNGILAYI OR WALAGA OR VAALUGACHEPA .

Here is a recipe for CHEPALA PULUSU (FISH CURRY, ANDHRA STYLE)

Ingredient

1 Fish 2 Vegetable Oil 1/2 cup 3 Ginger Piece (1 inch in length) 2 inches 4 Garlic 1 pod 30 5 Cloves (Whole) 4 6 Coriander seeds (crushed, powder) 6 teaspoons 7 Cardamom 2 8 Tamarind concentrate 4 tablespoons 9 Chili Powder (Red Chili Powder) 11/2 teaspoon 10 Turmeric (Haldi powder) 1/2 teaspoon 2 11 Curry Leaves 12 12 Onions 2 medium 13 Coriander Leaves (dhaniya) fistful 14 Salt

Cut fish into 9 or 10 pieces and keep aside.

1. Make into a paste: ginger, garlic, cardammom, cloves, coriander seeds, onions. Gently mix the paste, salt, chili powder, turmeric and the fish pieces so that the pieces are well coated with the spices and keep aside.

2. Heat oil in a skillet on medium heat, add curry leaves, coriander leaves and fry for two minutes. Then add fish pieces and fry for another 5 minutes. (DO NOT STIR OFTEN AS THE FISH PIECES CAN GET MUSHY). To this add tamarind paste mixed in two cups of water. Let it come to a boil, turn heat to low and cook for 15 minutes. Serve hot. Best with plain white rice.

enjoy .

Hi, The telugu name for catfish is waaluga .

Some people say that eating catfish will spoil your health because they are grown up by feeding dead fish as food to them. So, better dont take that fish.
