Apart from this Chant Maha Mritunjaya Mantra on regular basis - Say 3 times or 11 times in a day. This mantra will overcome all your obstacles in life. The mantra is as follows: Thryambakam Yajaamahe' Suganthim Pushtivardhanam | Urvarukamiva Bandana-mr.uthyormuksheeya Ma-amr.uthathu ||
Meaning: We worship the three-eyed One, Lord Siva, Who is fragrant and Who nourishes all beings; May He liberate me from the death, for the sake of Immortality, just as the ripe cucumber gets severed from the bondage of the vines.
If u dont have a shivling - get one shivling from market. nd give water to shivling daily and chant om namah shivaya.
Monday is the day for Shiv Pooja. Some ladies keep fast also - like 16 Somavar vrat.
Dear Sanjana, There are some beliefs spread by someone that do not offer prayers to certain Gods. According to me relation of God with us is like Father and Son. If son want to wish his father anywhere it hardly makes any difference.Lord Siva is father of the whole Universe. He is generous too. He melts down with bhakti and love. You can certainly do his pooja regularly by the mantra "OM NAMAH SHIVAYE" This is also known as panchakshari mantra and is very dear to lord Siva. Mondays are better to start. You can do pooja of Sivalinga for the six days and leave the Sunday. Photos etc should be prayed daily. Many people have doubts and say whatever heard. Even I had installed a Sivalingam in my house and perform prayer at regular basis and lord Siva has blessed me a lot. Have faith in God and lord Siva will certainl bless you.
Dear Sanjana It is absolutely beneficial to do Siva Pooja everyday. If you do so, there will be no shortage of health or wealth in your family. Shiva is such a merciful god whom is called as 'Bhole Nath' - The Innocent God. He is the all powerful God. You can have the photo of Shiva at home. When doing the sincere pooja of Shiva, one gets rid of the fear of death. You can just utter 'Om Namah Shivaya' or utter the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra which is:
Om Tryamlakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pusti - vardhanam / Urva - rukamiva Bandhanan Mrtyor - muksheeya Ma - amritat //
Om. We worship The Three-Eyed Lord Shiva who is naturally fragrant, immensely merciful & and who is the Protector of the devotees. Worshipping him may we be liberated from death for the sake of immortality just as the ripe cucumber easily separtes itself from the binding stalk i.e.By your Grace, Let me be in the state of salvation (Moksha) and be saved from the clutches of fearful death.
The Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra is very much a protector from accidents, mishaps and daily calamities in the modern busy life.
I have experienced the bliss of Shiva within me. He is the all powerful and merciful God. The days preferable for him are: Mondays and Pradhosham, thirteenth day of the fortnight are very auspicious to Shiva Maha Shivaratri is celebrated in grand style with puja's and bhajans throughout night. Dharsan of Shiva on days with Aardha star and prashodam puja on Mondays Saturdays are very auspicious.
Special Offerings Siva is Abhishekapriya, meaning one who adores sacred bath. Rudraabishekam, Rudra homam, Mrithyunjaya homam are performed to Lord Shiva. Bilva leaf, Erukku,Thumba and Oleander flowers are auspicious to Shiva.

(CHANT 2 TIMES) (The above sloka is from Sri Rudram) Next sloka is: TRYAMBAKAM YAGAMAHE SUGANDIAM PUSTHI VARDANAM URVAHA RUGA MIGA VANDANAT MRITHYOUR MUKSHI MAMRITATH! Daily when you do pooja in the morning you can do Shiva pooja,by chanting the Shiva mantra"OM NAMAH SHIVAYA" at least 9 times or max 108 times. Mondays are meant for fasting to please lord Shiva. To have or not to have a photo of lord shiva is upto you, having one is better though.
