Though Ragi, Bajra and Jowar are referred as millets in English, they are all different. Ragi is a variety of millet. In English, it is referred to as finger millet or red millet. Bajra is referred to as Pearl Millet. Jowar as Great Millet. Here are the names in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi respectively.

Ragi: Ragulu(Telugu), Kizhvaragu(Tamil), Mundua(Hindi)

Bajra: Sajjalu (Telugu), Kambu(Tamil), Bajra(Hindi)

Jowar: Jonnalu(Telugu), Cholam(Tamil), Juar/jowar(Hindi)

Availabillity:I get my ragi at the indian store. But if you don't have one close by you could try the international section of your supermarket and look for millets.

Nutritional Value: Being rich in proteins and high levels fibre, it is superior to rice or wheat in nutritional terms. Also contains high calcium.

Uses: Used in making Ragi Mudde, Ragi Roti, Ragi Malt etc.

I think its called millet in English - some dictionaries list it as african millet Ragi flour has a greyish color when powdered, its extremly rich in Iron and very very good for people with Diabates. Jowar and Bajra flour are not the same as ragi flour altough you could use all these together in recipes like satdhan parathas to make a highly wholesome and nutritious dish. Ragi flour is used widely in Karnataka to make ragi mudde and ragi roti.
