Recipe for Moor Kulambu (2)

Moor Kulambu (2)

A South Indian curry. This is a combination of curd/yogurt ,coconut paste and vegetables This is the easier version of the previous recipe Moor Kulambu (1)

Preparation time ([days] hrs:min): 00:10

Cooking time ([days] hrs:min): 00:10

No. of servings: 4

List of ingredients:

  • 1 cup yogurt/curd  
  • 1 cup okra /ladiesfinger  
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder  
  • 1 teaspoon salt  
  • Set (1)
  • 4 tablespoons scraped coconut  
  • 6 in number green chillies  
  • 1 inch piece ginger  
  • 1 tablespoon roasted gram/pottu kadalai  
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds  
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole black pepper  
  • For seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon oil for seasoning  
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds  
  • 2 in number dry red chillies  
  • For Garnishing
  • 1/8 teaspoon asafoetida  
  • few curry leaves  
  • few coriander leaves  

Cooking procedure:

Beat the curd well and keep aside.Mix in the turmeric powder and salt.

Cut the okra/ladies finger into one inch piece

Grind the coconut with ingredients in Set (1) and keep aside.

Heat oil in a kadai and add the okra/ladies finger fry for few minutes till the stickiness goes.

Add the ground coconut paste and bring to a boil.

To this add the beaten curd .

Remove from fire just before the curd starts to boil. If it is allowed to boil then it will become very watery.

Heat oil in another kadai and add the mustard seeds, red chillies and add to the moorkulambu.

Garnish with fresh cut coriander leaves , curry leaves and asafoetida. Serve hot with rice

Storage Tips:

This kulambu stays fresh for few days.Do not heat before serving.

Additional Info:

This kulambu can also be made with colcasia,pumpkin,eggplant/brinjal,or potatoes or with no vegetable at all.
