You cannot change your baby's complexion if acquired by inheritance/genetics.
In more traditional households, elders may advise mothers to massage their babies with raw milk, fresh cream, besan (gram flour) and turmeric paste to ensure a fair and flawless complexion. However, this practice is best avoided as raw milk can carry a host of bacteria and cause infections, such as diarrhoea, dysentery, TB, E.coli and salmonella especially in a newborn. Fresh cream tends to make the skin greasy and may cause rashes. Also the abrasive nature of gram flour and turmeric may result in allergies and even bruises.
Some mothers insist on applying lots of powder on their babies to make them fair -- this is futile. In fact, the powder can cake up on wet skin and cause irritation and discomfort.
It is essential to understand that a person is beautiful because of what he is and what he does -- not because of his looks or skin tone.
In some cases, a baby's skin colour may change due to environmental or health reasons. A baby's skin may look red or flushed due to high temperatures, or he may have a slight pale bluish tinge due to the cold especially if his hands and feet are exposed. Some babies even turn blue or purple due to intense crying. However, if the bluish tinge does not go away after a crying fit, or if your baby has a blue tinge all over his body which does not subside after a few days, it may be a sign of breathing or circulatory problems. Talk to your doctor right away.
Sometimes babies have skin rashes and birthmarks which may need further examination.

This information comes from my own knowledge.
Your baby’s complexion is determined by her genes and the race and ethnic group that you and your husband belong to. It is not determined by the food you consume.
There is a common belief that when the pregnent women takes fresh fruits, milk and other foods it will improve the baby's complexion. This is a myth and has no scientific basis. The food that an expecting mother eats will help improve her baby’s health and development, and not the complexion.so dont get worried about your child's complexion.
Here are some remedies for Babies fair complexion:
Please try any of these for a very short time and watch for allergic reactions or getting illnesses like cold or cough due to cooling...Don't try all the remedies together. Try one at a time and wait and see....

hello sonia, how old is your baby now?if your baby is still months old, then just press your baby's any part of the body with ur thumb, and jus see the color it shows after u press ur thumb and release it, that is the exact complexion of ur baby.
If your baby is older then even after u and ur husband being fair coplextioned if ur baby is dark then it might be heriditery ,someone in your relation/family might have the complextion, because elders say that the child can get genes of seven generations. So, dont' worry and stay calm Everythign's going be fine.
nothing to worry , it can be possible that a baby can be dark but that can be changed as he/she grows up . i know many pepole who were very dark in complextion when they were baby but now they are quit fair . as far as what u can do is just give the baby proper message , healthy food and love don't do any kind of experiment on his/her beautiful skin . and don't worry please.
The babys face and colour wll change day by day.It is not mandatory that your baby should be black in color only. You can apply a baby oil called nalpamarathi oil.It is avaliable in kottakkal stores(Kottakkal arya vaidia shala). It is there in dubai also.It is an ayurvedic oil for the babies. It contains 4 essential oils needed for the babys. It will definitaly brightens her skin
There is nothing to worry. The colour will return after the baby grows up . And these are God given issues which should be taken in the right spirit and very positively especially for a healthy confident growth of your child.
You cannot change the colour of your child's skin. You can just lighten. You can apply besan with little cream or milk on the face of the child. But this has to be very gentle as the child's skin is very sensitive.
Look at how you can give your child a good future, good values and make your child a strong person from inside and out. Please don't teach your child how to give importance to non essential details like skin color and for heaves sake don't thrust your child into the world of racism, and superficial judgment so soon in life!
Hi sonia, If you and your husband are not dark but the baby is, it may be due to some one else in the family.it may be the color of the grand parents. Well nothing to worry about. Start right away washing her face with curd when ever giving the child a bath.thecomplexion will certainly improve and will become beautiful and fairer. believe me.
