Very happy u r thinking of doing some good service on humanitarian considerations. All of us have some ideas like this but we stop short of implementing them due to certain constraints. One such constraint is, a number of private orphanages/homeless children have become notoriously commercialised in the hands of unscrupulous elements in order to gain sympathy/tax concessions and to make some lucre.
There may be any number of orphanages but it would be better for you to get in touch with the Directorate of Women and Children, ascertain from them the genuine orphanages, go there personally, look around and do your service directly to the children and do not hand over your sweets etc., to any officials. This way, you can plan your future course of social action. I am just advising you because I have undergone bad experiences while rendering my own service.
First I would like to say that is a lovely thing to do and I wish therewere more people out there like you.
