Hi, This is a problem faced by most of the babies, especially who are bottle fed.Certain foods eaten by lactating mothers(especially dairy products) contain volatile chemicals and allergens that in a small percentage of infants result in colic discomfort and digestive upset. Infants often swallow air while feeding or during strenuous crying, which increases gas and bloating, further adding to their discomfort
Infantile colic is most common in the first few weeks to four months of an infant's life. But my persoanl advise is please dont use any Gripe water or medicine atleast till the baby is one month old. Homeopathic medicies is also very good for colic pain but should be taken only after the supervision of ur childs Paediatrician.
Some useful Remedies :
1.Try anything that creates a low-level humming in the background: Running a vacuum cleaner, a dishwasher or another appliance can help calm Kid Colic.
2.Some parents got an aquarium filter and put it in their baby's room. The sound of the bubbles going through the filter helped quiet their colicky baby
3.Put baby next to the washer.Put your baby in his infant seat, fasten him securely, and place the seat next to the washing machine or dryer while it's in operation.
4.Stay calm. If your baby's marathon crying drives you to the brink of insanity, remind yourself that colic is not a serious medical problem that threatens his or her health. With that knowledge in mind, understand that this is just a stage in your child's development, albeit an unpleasant one, that will soon pass.
5.Soothe, don't stimulate. Some crying, colicky babies may be overly stimulated, so try soothing the infant instead of bouncing or rocking him or her. a pacifier; or repetitious sounds, such as the noise of a fan or humidifier.
6.If you are breast feeding then drink Chamomile Tea.You can drink this unless you are alergetic to Pollens. You can give your baby too , it is very effective for colic pain but make sure you consult with the paediatrician before giving anything to the baby.
7.Try eliminating dairy products for two weeks and switch to soy products, both for baby and for you, if you're breast-feeding. If you don't notice any improvement, assume milk isn't the culprit.
8.Running water. Water soothes the savage beast...and the screaming baby. One of the simplest calming techniques is to place a bowl in the sink and turn on the faucet. Hold your baby next to the sink so he can hear the water cascading into the bowl. If the kitchen sink doesn't produce enough volume, perhaps try the bathroom sink. An enclosed space, like a bathroom, may accentuate the soothing sounds of water.
9.Warm water. Put warm (not hot) water in a hot-water bottle and place it against your baby's stomach. This can be soothing.
10.Basil. This aromatic herb contains large amounts of eugenol, which, among other things, has antispasmodic and sedative properties. Place 1 teaspoon dried basil leaves in a cup and fill it with boiling water. Cover and let stand for ten minutes. Strain and, while warm or at room temperature, give it to the infant in a bottle. (consult your doctor before giving) A nursing mother may also drink the tea.
11.Mint. Mint has antispasmodic properties, which may help reduce intestinal spasms in colicky infants. Place 1 teaspoon dried mint in a cup and fill with boiling water. Let stand for ten minutes. Strain well and, while warm, feed to the baby in a bottle(consult with your doctor before). Nursing mothers may want to have a cup of mint tea, too.
Note:The most important. Make sure you burp your baby after every time you feed. If you feel that the baby is more gasious, take one or two break and burp the baby inbetween the feeds.

My mother used to feed me GRIPE WATER, hence, I recommend it as a home remedy for babies with colic, gas, teething pain, reflux or other stomach ailments. Its ingredients vary, and may include alcohol, bicarbonate, ginger, dill, fennel and chamomile. It is typically given to the infant with a dropper in liquid form, a single dose may be 2.5 to 10 ml, depending on the age of the baby, repeated several times daily. It is for soothing intestinal pains, gas or other stomach ailments. Your baby of one and a half week can be given 2.5ml that is 1/2 tea spoon. It is available in the US as an over-the-counter FDA regulated medicine as well as in various dietary supplement forms. Although many parents report positive results using gripe water no formal clinical studies have confirmed its efficacy. The medical benefits of gripe water are not known. But with practical knowledge it may suit some babies. It is advisable that you ask your family doctor over phone what will really suits your child.
From my own experience with my grandchild who is now 6 months Bonnissan is a very safe and effective medicine. We had started it when she was barely 10 days old and the dosage was 2.5 ml. once a day. Therefore i think you can safely give her the medicine. But a prior consultation with the doctor is of utmost importance.
