there is a gem stone that relates to each of the nine planets. These nine stones are called Navaratnas (nine gems). Five of them are categorized as Maha Ratnas, and are considered superior. These are diamond, ruby, emerald, blue sapphire, and pearl. If the better quality stones are too expensive, it is all right to wear a good quality substitute, but the higher the stone’s quality, the stronger the effect.

The Navaratna ring or pendant contains all nine planetary gems. Substitute gems should not be used in such settings, and substituting for the more expensive stones should not be necessary because each gemstone used is actually quite small. All the gems should be real and flawless. The following gems are to be set in a Navaratna arrangement: diamond, emerald, ruby, pearl, coral, cat’s eye, sapphire, topaz, and hessonite.A Navaratna ring is believed to bring happiness, prosperity, honor, fame, mental peace, long life, and wealth. A Navaratna ring will enhance the good effects of any planets in their own signs or in signs of their exaltation. This ring should be prescribed by an astrologer. The astrologer should also set the auspicious day and time at which to wear the ring. A qualified person should perform the puja (worship). The ring can be set either in gold or silver, and the nine gems should be set in a prescribed order—which an Indian goldsmith should know. The mantra to be chanted for this ring: “Om Surya namaha, Chandraye namaha, Budhaye namaha, Brihaspataye namaha, Mangala namaha, Shukraye namaha, Shaniaye namaha, Rahuaye namaha, Ketuaye namaha, Nava grahaye namaha.” This mantra should be chanted one thousand times a day for fifty days.

Prescribing Gems for astrological remedies:

Using gemstones as astrological remedies is a complicated science, and it is best to consult a qualified astrologer before making any decisions in this regard. Wearing an incorrect gem can be severely detrimental to one’s health and happiness. There are those who think that if a krura-graha, cruel planet, is badly placed in the chart, one should not use its gemstone to improve its effects. This is because the gemstone may also strengthen the planet’s bad effects. It would be better, these experts say, to use another gem—one that would strengthen the positive planets in the chart and therefore improve one’s situation overall. Other experts say that wearing gemstones filters out the negative rays of the afflicting planets and allows only their positive aspects to work on the wearer. Whatever one’s point of view, it is certainly not a good idea to wear a gem to strengthen an afflicted planet without having that gem prescribed by a qualified astrologer. In prescribing gems, the birth chart must be drawn to see how the various planets are positioned in the rasis (zodiacal signs) and bhavas (houses). An astrologer would then look at the position of the planets in the signs and houses, whether they are in friendly signs, are exalted, are well- aspected, or are in mulatrikona. All these things give positive effects and strengthen a chart. Besides checking the birth house chart, a navamsa chart is often also drawn and examined in Sidereal astrology. Astrologers may also prescribe gemstones based on prashna charts, which are charts drawn up to reply to particular questions. Gemstones may be prescribed to help with specific problems addressed by the native’s question.

In Hindu astrology, earth is considered the centre of the universe and the nine planets are the navagrahas. Each of these planetary positions supposedly have an influence throughout an individual’s course of life. Hence, wearing these nine gems is said to provide an astrological benefit. It is also said that these gems potentially may have both positive and negative influences on human life, therefore should be worn only after consulting an astrologer. Similar to the beliefs held in birthstones, the benefits of wearing such accessories has not been scientifically quantified.

Symbolically and astrologically, the nine gems are believed to represent the nine astrological bodies:

Ruby (Manikyam or Padmarag): Sun

Natural pearl (Mukta or Moti): Moon

Red coral (Moonga or Pravalam): Mars

Emerald (Marakatam or Panna): Mercury

Yellow sapphire (Pushparagam): Jupiter

Diamond (Hira or Vajram): Venus

Blue sapphire (Indra-neelam): Saturn

Hessonite (Gomedakam): Rahu, the ascending lunar node

Cat’s eye (Vaiduryam): Ketu, the descending lunar node

Based on an individual’s Sidereal horoscope, either a single gem or a combination of compatible gems is advised to be worn to harness beneficial planets or counteract harmful planets. There are two views in this regard. Gems are also purported to have certain healing properties, although this has yet to be scientifically proven.

Gemstone rings are a very traditional way of wearing astrological gemstones. Each finger corresponds to a planet, and the gem ring can be worn on the finger relative to the gemstone's planet or one of its friends.

The relationship between the planets and our fingers is: the index finger and Jupiter, the middle finger and Saturn, the ring finger and the Sun, and the little finger and Mercury.

We are able to craft custom rings in either Sterling Silver or 14KT gold. We will need your ring size and either a representative drawing of your ring design or a sample ring that is close to your needs.

Dear Jiby, In sanskrit, Nav means "nine" and Ratna means "gems." These precious gems have their own significance. The Navaratna consists of the vajra or diamond, manika or ruby, marakata or emerald, vidruma or coral, mukta or pearl, Nila or sapphire, gomedaka or garent, pusyaraga or topaz and vaidurya or cat’s eye. This combination of gems is considered highly auspicious for the wearer and also acts as protection against danger and disease.

It is advised that you consult a good astrologer or a gemologist who could read your horoscope and then do the necessary pooja for the gem that suits you. Each of these gems have a strengthening or a counter-acting power of the ruling planet. When worn together they help deliver the benefits of all the nine planetary gemstones simultaneously, acting as a protective talisman offering the benefits of health, happiness and prosperity. The stone and its weight are decided according to the individual’s astrological chart.

Good luck!!!

Navaratna literally a Sanskrit compound word meaning "nine gems", is a talisman or accessory set with nine gems. It is a popular item for celebrities and tourists in India and can be found at the finest jewelry stores and lowly gift shops. Essentially Navaratna is a jeweled yantra or astrological layout consisting of nine different gems used to balance or strengthen all the 9 planets recognized by Jyotish or Sidereal Astrology. In this sense Navaratna is considered a talisman.

Please consider the following bona fide ancient Vedic references on gemology: (The great sage) Sri Suta Goswami, has spoken the following words in the ancient Garuda-puranam, chap 70, regarding the dawn of creation: The Demon Vala "The blood of the great demon Vala was taken by Surya, the Sungod, who then fled into the blue vastness of space....Ravana attempted to block Surya's flight like a solar eclipse....Appearing afraid of Ravana, the Sungod dropped the demon's blood, which fell down in the deep pools of ancient Bharata (which included Burma, Siam, India, and of course Sri Lanka)....Beautiful and effulgent rubies, in all shades of color, possessing manifold virtues, originated on these shores....The rubies from these fragrant lands are found in a variety of hues....Some are like human blood, etc.....Being illuminated by rays of the Sun, this crystal species shines forth with wonderful color and brilliancy."

NOTE: That is a direct bona fide Vedic link between Surya (Sun) and rubies.

In chapter 69 it is further stated by Suta Goswami:

"The teeth of the demon Vala....fell like stars into the oceans below and became seeds for a species of gems with the luster of full Moon beams. Entering into the shells of oysters these seeds became (natural) pearls."

NOTE: Another direct link that matches the nine planets (Graha-devas) with associated gems, viz., natural pearl for Chandra, the Moon.

There are nine foremost gems which are known as the Nava-ratna. The Sun's gem is pure ruby, Moon is (natural) pearl, Mars is red coral, Mercury is emerald, Jupiter is yellow sapphire, Venus is diamond, Saturn is blue sapphire, Rahu is hessonite, and Ketu is cat's eye.

A slightly different version of this ancient Sanskrit verse is also quoted in the "Mani-mala" 1) Ruby for the Sun, 2) Pearl for the Moon, 3) Coral for Mars, 4) Emerald for Mercury, 5) Yellow sapphire for Jupiter, 6) Diamond for Venus, 7) Blue sapphire for Saturn, 8) Hessonite for Rahu (the ascending node of the Moon) 9) Cat's eye for Ketu (the descending node of the Moon), these gems must be high-born (top quality) and flawless

All these nine gems are considered equally sacred, and they only differ according to the astral influence of their ruling planets. In essence the table of Asian Birth Stones is as follows:

GEMSTONES RULING PLANET Ruby Sun(Surya) Pearl Moon(Chandra) Red Coral Mars(Mangala) Emerald Mercury(Budha) Yellow Sapphire Jupiter(Brihaspati) Diamond Venus(Shukra) Blue Sapphire Saturn(Shani) Hessonite Rahu(Moon's N Node) Cat's Eye Ketu(Moon's S Node)

The Navaratnas are most powerful products in astrology. They have different types of stones and pearls, such as pearl, emerald, diamond, cateye, and sapphire to help receive cosmic power from heaven or the supreme soul. Hi Jiby., The word Navaratna means “nine gems” in the ancient Sanskrit language of India. The ancient seers of India discovered long ago that certain gemstones could be used in a therapeutic manner for specific types of diseases and spiritual ailments. In fact, certain gemstones were found to have extraordinary healing effects, when worn on the body after being properly prepared with mantras, spiritual rituals and other empowerment processes.

The nine major gemstones used in traditional gem therapy include: Ruby, Pearl, Red Coral, Emerald, Yellow Sapphire, Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Hessonite Garnet, and Catseye Chrysoberyl. These nine gemstones (Navaratna) have been correlated with the nine cosmic forces (Navagraha) which are used in traditional Hindu-Vedic Astrology (Jyotisha).

The nine cosmic forces are associated with the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, North Node, and South Node. The various astrological patterns found in a person’s birthchart (Janma Kundali) which indicate affliction, disease, and other troubles can, to a certain extent, be neutralized by the proper, therapeutic use of gemstones. Hence the popularity of Gem Therapy in those countries where there is a strong astrological tradition. The Navaratnas are most powerful products in astrology. Hi Jiby

You can wear navaratna ring everyday and everyone can wear that. You should wear to your right ring finger. See that the position of the stones are correct when you put your arm down.

Some restrictions are you should not wear it while eating and while sleeping and while using bathroom, and do not wear it on any inauspicious ceremonies. If you frequently use it with water, then the stones loses its shining and looks dull.

For positions of the stones, you can use the links

http://facets.wordpress.com/2006/01… http://www.vishuji.com/navgraha.htm…

with addition to these you can take the advice of your astrologer by having him look at your jatakam(horoscope) and tell you exactly what to do.

Hope this is useful.

Thank you

Any one can wear a nvaratna ring . nava ratna means the 9 gems(a gem is a precious stone that has been cut and polished for use as jewelry or decoration )

In astrology each of these stones denote a planet . For eg . Ruby denotes person born of a star of the planet SUN for eg. Uttara Ashada/ uthrada ( simply means that at the time of birth he was undergoing his Soorya das / dasa of the Sun).

But wearing a navaratna does not give the effect of the individual gem for eg. if the person born of Uttara Ashada wears a Ruby , it is supposed to have a much superior effect than a NAva-ratna ring.

But ur question is :"is it ok to wear navaratna ring everybody ? or is there have some restriction "

Answer is :

1) its ok

2) No restrictions
