My house construction will be complete on 20th December. Looking for advice on the following.
1. Earliest good date to move into this house 2. Can we move used items from the old house to the new house, before the griha pravesh ceremony is done? 3. Do we need to actually sleep in the house for a night to consider the griha pravesh to be complete?
Any advice on this is very much appreciated. My name is "Nara Vijaya Saradhi Naidu" and my wife's name is "Nara Hemalatha".
For gruha pravesh Muhurtham the data required is the details of janma Nakshtras of the couple performing the Puja and the place where exactly the gruhapravesam is being done.
In your case you have furnished the full names of the couple only,The place of Gruha pravesham has not been mentioned.
Since janma Nakshtras are not mentioned, it is presumed that the full birth details are not available and hence the muhurtham has to be fixed on the strength of Nama Nakshtras.
Based on the names, The Nama Nakshtras of the couple are Rohini(Vijaya Saradhi) and Pushyami(Hemalata).
Since place of Gruha Pravesam is not mentioned, it is Presumed that the Place is in India. Since all panchangas(Telugu) are based on the Long and Lat of Rajahmundry[(81E47) 16N59] the muhurtha is being given for that place.. So by making suitable time correction at the rate of 4 mts for Every longitude, the exact time at the required place can be determined.
From 10-12-07 to 8-1-08 due to Sukra Moodhami and from 9-1-08 to 7-2-08 Pushya masam(Soonya Masam) there are no Muhurthams for important Subha karyas inclding marriage and Gruha pravesh.
So the Earliest Gruha Praveh Muhurtham for the above couple is in February and is as under:
11th february 08 Monday Panchami Revathi Nakshtram Night 9-11 PM Kanya Lagna Pushkaramsa (As per Rajahmundry Panchangam. Suitable time corrections shall apply for other places in India)
So this is the earliest Muhurtham based on Janma Nakshtrams and presuming that the function will be held in India.
If you hve your Janma Nakshtras or your full birth details and if u can provide the place of function, most accurate Muhurtham can be given.
You need to furnish the birth details of yourself and your wife for getting the correct muhurtha (auspicious time) for Grahapravesha ceremony. The date should be auspicious reckoning from your wife's horoscope and also she should not be having her monthly periods on that date (As the Woman of the House, she should officiate in the function). so, this particular factor also should be considered in addition to the muhurtha guidelines; i.e. you can have astrologers give you 2 or 3 auspicious dates from which you may select one date during which she is not likely to have her monthly periods.
2) It is best to avoid moving items from old house to the new house till the griha Pravesh ceremony is over.
3) Yes....you need to actually sleep in the house for at least one night immediately after the Griha Pravesh ceremony.
If you get back to us with the details of your birth details, astrologers at ammas.com can guide you regarding the muhurthas.

Dear Anonymous,
First of all I must congratulate on your completion of newly constructed house.
Regarding you have asked for good date to move into the newly built house, I must frankly tell you that the only early Mahuratha dates are falling on 31st January, 08, Ist February, 08 and 16th February, 08 for entry into newly constructed house. However, these 3 days has to be further short listed on the basis of your Janam Rashi. Since you have not supplied your birth data, it is not possible to find your Janam Rashi and further shortlist even from the above 3 dates, which is very much essential for fixing Mahurta.
However, on the basis of your name as Vijay, you are Taurus Janam Rashi and on the basis of this, from the above 3 dates, 1st February and 16th February, 08 are suitable date for entering into the house. However, the timing will be from 2.35 PM to 4.25 PM in Mithun Lagna as most of the malefics like Ketu , Saturn are in 3rd house and Rahu in the 9th house and Jupitor in Kendra on Ist February, 08 or in Virgo Lagna timing 21.15 to 23.00 PM and on 16th February in Virgo Lagna from 20.10 PM to 22.10 PM. Since you have also not supplied the birth place, so the lagna timing as well as mahurtha in fixed Navamsha has to be got calculated from your Local Pandits ji who performed the necessary Puja.
However, during Puja all the new articles have to used and in North India there is no problem of shifting our old bed, furniture etc. while shifting the house luggage. But all the new or old domestic articles has to be moved only after the specific Puja. No articles should be moved into the new place of residence, before that Puja and on the day you perform Puja, you have to sleep in the new place.

The first thing I would suggest you is that you should put this question in 'Vastu' category. However, since I have some idea about vastu, I am putting my views below :-
You have provided details about the condition of the house 'its a newly constructed house' but you have not provided the following details required for analysis of suitable time for vastu/griha pravesh. Please provide these details. You can also thru the 'thank this advisor' option.
(A) Your birth details - date of birth, time of birth and place of birth.
(B) The direction of the main entry of your house.
As regards your querry about sleeping in the new house - Yes as per our Shastras, the couple who performs the rituals of vastu pooja etc. needs to spent that night in the same house.
You should not shift the used furniture etc. to the new house before the pooja is performed. However shifting baggage necessary for staying in the house for the particular night can be shifted before pooja.
Regarding shifting the used items from the old house, even after pooja; I would suggest you to please make a very strict scrutinity and try to disposse off the old articles just lying unused for years with you. Ask your self a small question for this scrutiny - "When did we last used this item?" If you have not used the item during last 3/4 years; my golden advice would be to disposse it off. I personally believe, such unutilized items create negative vibrations. I have, personally experienced the 'Dosha' created by such unused items. If you want to bring a positive change in your life and circumstances, why should you carry the same bundle of old vibrations along? And last, but not the least, don't repeat the same mistake in your new home - don't collect such articles which you may seldom need. Bring in orderliness in the storage of articles in your store room.
May God bless you with more peace and prosperity in the new home.

Mr.Nara Vijaya Saradhi Naidu -Theperfect date to move into ur newly constructed house is 17th. of April2008,it is as per murtha and according to u and ur wifes`s lucky numbers(as per both names) If you are interestedto move in new house at earlier then go for 26th.december at 11.45am as the Abhijit mahurta helps here. Before entering into new house "Vasstu PUJAN"AND HAVANA should be done Proper religious ceremonies should be performed before entering the house.you can shift used items only after performing pujja. The Grihaprevasha will be complete when you spend one night there.YOUR QUESTION IS NOT COMPLETE AS YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN THE FACING OF THE HOUSE WHICH PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN FINDING MURTH.

Congratulations!! May this new house bring you luck, prosperity, happiness and good Health.
It would be helpful, if you could post both your date, time and place of birth info, to calculate a good Muhurtham for the Grahapravesham.
It is unadvisable to use items from old house in the new house before grahaprevesham, but you do take all pooja items and all required utensils, like plates, glasses, pooja items, to perform the grahaprevesham. Similiarly, you can also take the stove to boil the milk.
Yes, you need to stay in the house for a day atleast, 3 nights is advisable.
Better is this you move your items after griha pravesh ceremony.
First of all keep the water pot, and do Ganesh Pooja, Lakshmi Pooja, Navgrah pooja and vastu pooja. Have food with your relatives and friends. then you have sleep or make food in the new house to consider griha parvesh to be complete.
actually we do not conduct gruhapravesham in December. Usually it is held according to the dates fixed as per the horoscopes of the husband and wife. Please do send in your birth details and get the dates analysed according to your horoscopes.
The next query you have asked is about spending the night there at the new house. Yes it is mandatory and I have seen the couple or the people connected with that family stay overnight.
You can move your items into the house before the gruhapravesham or immediately after that. But someone has to stay the night , that is for sure.
15Th,24ThAND 28Th FEBRUARY ARE THE NEAREST GOOD DATES FOR GRIHAPRAVESHAM.HOWEVER YOU HAVE CHECK SUITABILITY ALONG WITH YOUR BIRTH STAR. 2) THE FIRST THING THAT SHOULD GO IN TO THE HOUSE HASTO BE THE PORTRAIT OR IDOL OF SATYANARAYANA SWAMY OR ANY OTHER TRADITIONAL OR FAMILY DIETY AS IS THE CUSTOM IN THEIR FAMILY.3)YOU NEED TO SLEEP FOR THREE CONSICUTIVE NIGHTS IN THE HOUSE AFTER GRIHA PRAVESH AND SHOULD PERFORM ATLEAST NORMAL PRAYERS BEFORE GOING TO BED,TO AVOID BAD ELEMENTALS ENTERING THR HOUSE.

Usually grahapravesham are not done in the month of December. Also it is better to move things to the new house after the house warming cermony. It is a practice to spend the night on the day of the Grihaparvesam in the new house.
To know about the other muhurthams for house warming ceremony, repost the query with your full birth details.
