Mista was an American R&B group in the mid-1990's from Atlanta, Georgia. Members: Darryl Allen, Bobby "Valentino" Wilson, Brandon Brown, Byron Reeder. Formed and managed by "09 Lives" producer Eric Johnston and former Elektra Entertainment Group A&R director Ian Burke, alleged cousin to Music Producer William "Vybe Chyle" Burke, Mista burst into the music scene in 1996 with their hit "Blackberry Molasses." The group quickly drew comparisons to Boyz II Men and New Edition, releasing their Organized Noize produced self-titled debut album on July 30, 1996. Despite the success of "Blackberry Molasses," the group's second single "Lady" along with their album were moderately successful. Mista peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in October 1996 respectfully. In 1997 the group began working on their sophomore album with producers Tim & Bob, and were featured on the soundtrack for Why Do Fools Fall in Love. However, the group disbanded in 1997 due to apparent management issues, while Bobby Valentino credits their break-up to a combination of the group member’s ages and their not being totally compatible as a group.
After Mista's departure lead singer Bobby Valentino began a solo career nine years later in 2005 releasing hits such as "Slow Down" reaching number 1, "Tell Me" reaching number 13, "Turn The Page" reaching number 63, but was a hit, "Anonymous" reaching number 17 & "Beep" reaching number 6. Valentino released 3 albums which were all successful with each album debuting at #1. In a 2009 interview Valentino stated that he may bring Mista back onto the music scene.
