Hello,

The welfare of the old people not only individual family responsibility. Certain extent it falls on community too.

Certainly Government & Non-Government organizations, similarly business associations & non-profit organizations can come forward for funding the facilities.

Health Facilities.

1. For better health care facilities. 2. Emergency services. 3. Age hold nursing homes. 4. Hospice centres for terminal ill patients.

Volunteer acitivies: 1. Some of them gained lot of wisdom in there life in different areas. May be we can benefit them. Provided they can teach younger generation.

2. In library / or they can teach younger kids.

Group Activities:

1.involve them in group activites they will be active. 2. If health permits by living in the group they will interact with there own group and be in each other company. It will be benefical in many ways.

By taking good care of them we are setting a good example for coming generations.

Hi We must take care of our parents(when they become old:its our duty too but many children's dont even do this.) and elders who live near us. As always charity begins at home , we must first take care of elders in our home , within our relation , neighborhood and society. We can also participate in community services that is beneficial to elders. We can even join/start NGO(Non-Governmental Organizations) to take care of the elders and also create a awareness for taking care of the elders.

The HelpAge India is a NGO that takes care of the welfare of Elders. http://www.helpageindia.org/…

The situation of elders in India cannot be changed within a day as “Rome was not built in a day” . Each individual must understand the suffering of the elders and must come forward to help them. Thus we must create awareness among our children, neighbors and society on how elders are suffering due to poverty and negligence. If each individuals come to realizes the suffering of the elders , then within a few years , we will surely make India a better place for elders.

development organisations and individuals working at grassroots-level with marginalised Elders, their families and communities, people like you, coming together from all walks of life who believe in the rights of the Aged Make society aware of issues concerning the aged and promote better understanding of them. Help the elderly be aware of their rights and provide access to them. Elderly people need care and love from their children......... which most of us cannot give due to our busy schedules....... We should make them feel important in the family..... some words of care and a bit of time will make wonders............ give respect.

there may be 90 million or more elderly people in india...what can we do? what can a common man do...who strive hard to lead his own life and cant think of the world. some may come up with old age homes but how many can be benifitted...may be few who are lucky...but to overcome this issue....there should a change in society...

every family should take care of their own family first

combined families should come again as in 70's 80's. in degree level of education, a (psychology )subject in relationships and their importance must be introduced

social activities should take place in every city through opening community centres like that. not only it should be a social activity...it can be like making older people (not too old) in encouraging to do small businesses. so that the get engaged, the centre gets financial support...evrything improves. but it should not be like old age homes. i feel elders should not be dependent on children...if children feels burden of their parents.old age homes are only for too old people who cant take care of them selves, it should not be for those who are homeless, but still have energy to do something.

i try to spend time with my grandparents and have an exchange of their lifestyle and ours.at times i take them to multiplexes and malls which they cannot even dream of. we can visit old age homes, spend time with the aged, listen to what they have to say, make them visit their friends, encourage them to keep themselves occupied in small constructive works.
