to kow about traditions andcustoms |
| Question: | |
Thanks Geetha for your reply. I am still not answered. My mom-in-law asked me to wear both. The thaali she asked me to wear inside cloths & not to show in public. The black beads one she asked me to wear outside. I do know the importance of Mangalsutra, hence I wear both as directed by my mom-in-law. But then I wanted to know about the Telugu tradition & the importance of thaali mangalsutra & why to wear both. Also it shows impression on shirts that wear. Another reason is that I am a little hesitant or to say scared to wear so much gold to work everyday. Hence I wanted to know if I can keep the thaali one reserved for some occassions & keep wearing only the black beads one daily ? Also the watis or the thaali do make some sound when they dangle. Some people suggested to put lac in it, some say no to lac. Should I fill the inner with lac to reduce the sound. They are well separated with some beads still make sound when dangling in neck. Please suggest. (change)

Dear Sushma,
yes, you can still give the gift, even though you stayed together. I believe that the readitional gift has to include clothes, fabric, fruits, gold ring or watch, coconuts, etc.
