is there any possible ways to stop solar flares hitting the earth?? |

i have heard that the earth will be destroyed on the year 2012.....n even heard that there is a huge risk of solar flares attacking the earth.....but can we not stop those from hitting the earth??? like for example can we find some technique by which we may just vaporize those flares before reaching the earth??? or can we find some other way to destroy or bombard(into small pieces) before they reach the earth??? so that the effect caused due to them is negligible???
