Split ac should be installed 4-10 inches from the ceiling. You can install them anywhere, but the best performance will be obtained with a higher install.

From:  Pradeep, Hyderabad, India, Mar/06/09 submitted on: Ammas.com
Subject:  Suitable Air conditioner
Question:  I live in a single room for rent, located on the third floor( also the top most floor) of the building. It's a medium seized room and can accommodate 3 persons but I stay alone. As the summer has already started I would like to buy an Air conditioner for my room. I do not have the idea at the slightest what and which to buy. As far as I know there seems to be two types of Air Conditioners Window type and Split AC majorly. I dont know whether there are more. but please suggest me what type of Air conditioner I have to buy. Only one window is there in my room with checked iron grills and also for light to let in there are two more windows on top near to ceiling which are also covered by iron grills. Please suggest me the Ac's which suits for me and that give best performance and also of reasonable cost ( in and around 15000). Thanks in advance.
