Breads : Eggless Naan


Number of servings: 5

List of ingredients:

½ package dry active yeast  
2 cups maida  
¼ cup warm water  
1 spoon sugar  
4 - 5 spoons butter  
salt to taste  

Cooking procedure
Mix the yeast in the warm water and let it turn foamy and murky. Take maida in a vessel, mix salt and sugar and make a depression in the middle. Pour the yeast into this. Add the butter and make a thick batter using enough water. Knead the dough well. Cover and keep in a warm place for about 2 – 3 hours. Knead again. You can see that the dough has become quite soft and pliable. Cover and keep for another hour or so. Knead again. Now divide the dough into balls and using your hand stretch them into triangular nan shape. You can use the rolling pin if you want to, but it is better if the naan is bumpy. Pre heat oven to 300 degrees. Grease an oven tray and place your naan on it. Let it cook for about 15 mins. Turn and let cook till done (approximately 10 mins). Oven temperature may vary depending on the make of the oven.
