Diwali special (Seedai)

Seedai is a delicious snack . This snack is made for Krishna Jayanthi in Tamilnadu and also for Diwali. Special dishes like murukku, seedai, vella seedai, thengozhal, payasam are all made and offered to the Lord. A special pooja is done to mark the occasion the occasion  

List of ingredients:
For the dough
1 cup raw rice  
4 teaspoons broken black gram  
1/2 cup grated coconut  
1 teaspoon butter  
1/2 tsp cumin seeds  
1/8 teaspoon asafoetida  
3/4 teaspoon salt  

Cooking procedure
Fry the rice lightly and powder coarsely.

Fry the dal till it turns golden and powder it well.

Take both these powders, add the grated coconut and salt and mix well.

Next mix the cumin seeds, asafoetida and butter and as much water that is needed to make a semi-dry dough.

Make small balls out of these.

Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan and fry these dough balls. Your seedai is ready!

Any additional information:
You can also add white til instead of cumin seeds.

CAUTION The seedai`s sometimes burst so first fry 3 to 4 seedai`s and if they are OK then fry the remaining.
