| 1/2 | tsp | crushed jaggery | |

| Cooking procedure |

| Grind the ingredients in set (1) to a fine paste. Heat oil in a kadai and season it with the ingedients in set (2). Pour the mixture slowly into the kadai . Cook to a thick consistency while stirring in between. This will take approximately (15 ) minutes. Towards the end keep stirring constantly to form like pickle (shown in the picture). Finally add the jaggery , asafoetida and remove from fire. Then store this chutney in a clean bottle. |

| Store this chutney in a clean bottle. It will remain good for a month when refrigerated. |

| This chutney goes well for idli, dosai, chappati and puri. Reduce the amount of red chili powder and grind 2 or 3 green chillies instead. Add sugar instead of jaggery. |
