Spicy tomato chutney

Spicy Tomato chutney
Mouth-watering chutney made of tomatoes, red chilipowder & jaggery. Photo  

List of ingredients:
Set 1
10 medium sized tomatoes  
1 cup tomatoe paste or puree  
1 tsp ginger garlic paste  
3 tsp chillipowder  
1/4 tsp turmeric powder  
1 tsp salt  
4 tbsp oil  
Set 2
1 tsp mustard  
4 in nos fenugreek seeds  
Finally add
1/2 tsp crushed jaggery  
1/4 tsp asafoetida  

Cooking procedure
Grind the ingredients in set (1) to a fine paste.

Heat oil in a kadai and season it with the ingedients in set (2).

Pour the mixture slowly into the kadai .

Cook to a thick consistency while stirring in between. This will take approximately (15 ) minutes.

Towards the end keep stirring constantly to form like pickle (shown in the picture).

Finally add the jaggery , asafoetida and remove from fire.

Then store this chutney in a clean bottle.

Store this chutney in a clean bottle.

It will remain good for a month when refrigerated.
Any additional information:
This chutney goes well for idli, dosai, chappati and puri.

Reduce the amount of red chili powder and grind 2 or 3 green chillies instead.

Add sugar instead of jaggery.
