Kadappa (green gram curry)

||This is a side dish for idli or dosai. My mother-in -law makes it well and I learnt it from her.|
|List of ingredients:|
|For the Kadappa|
|1/2 cup||green gram dal or pasiparuppu|
|1/4 teaspoon||aniseed or sombu|
|1/2 teaspoon||khus khus|
|coriander and curry leaves|
|Cook the dal. |
Boil the potato.
Slice the onion.
Grind the coconut with green chillies,cinnamon, cloves ,khus khus and aniseed.
Heat the oil in the kadai,season with mustard and urid dal
Fry the onions,garlic and curry leaves.
Add the chopped tomatoes.
Add the ground mixture and salt to taste.
Now add the boiled potatoes cut into pieces.
Now add the cooked dal and bring to boil stirring occasionally.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Squeze some lime juice if you prefer.
