Spicy Peas Pulav

Number of servings: 4

Peas Pulav
Peas Pulav is a simple easy rice dish that can be made in a jiffy. It tastes great with Chicken or vegetable korma and raita. I usually make this dish for large parties.

List of ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice
1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)
1 inch cinnamon stick (dal chini)
3 in number cloves
1 in number bay leaf
1/2 tsp powdered cardamom (elaichi powder)
1/2 cup cocunut milk (or light cocunut milk)
1/2 tsp cumin (jeera) seeds
3 tbsp oil
2 tsp salt (or to taste)
3 cups water

Cooking procedure
Method: Step 1: In a heavy bottomed pan, heat the oil. Add the cumin seeds and after about one minute add the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom powder and bay leaf. Fry for 1 minute. Step 2: Then add the green peas and saute for 5 minutes. Then add the washed Basmati rice and fry for another five minutes. Step 3: Add the cocunut milk and water and salt and mix well. Cover with the lid and cook until all the water is evaporated. Stir occasionally. Stir gently so that the rice grains do not break. Serve hot with Vegetable Korma or Chicken Korma and raita.
Storage tips:
Tastes best when fresh.
Any additional information:
The cocunut milk can be avoided and only water can be used.
