Spicy Peas Pulav

Peas Pulav |
Peas Pulav is a simple easy rice dish that
can be made in a jiffy. It tastes great
with Chicken or vegetable korma and raita.
I usually make this dish for large parties. |

| 2 | cups | basmati rice | |
| 1 | cup | green peas (fresh or frozen) | |
| 1 | inch | cinnamon stick (dal chini) | |
| 3 | in number | cloves | |
| 1 | in number | bay leaf | |
| 1/2 | tsp | powdered cardamom (elaichi powder) | |
| 1/2 | cup | cocunut milk (or light cocunut milk) | |
| 1/2 | tsp | cumin (jeera) seeds | |
| 3 | tbsp | oil | |
| 2 | tsp | salt (or to taste) | |
| 3 | cups | water | |
| Cooking procedure |
| Method:
Step 1: In a heavy bottomed pan, heat the oil. Add the cumin seeds and after about one
minute add the cloves, cinnamon, cardamom powder and bay leaf. Fry for 1 minute.
Step 2: Then add the green peas and saute for 5 minutes. Then add the washed Basmati rice
and fry for another five minutes.
Step 3: Add the cocunut milk and water and salt and mix well. Cover with the lid and cook
until all the water is evaporated. Stir occasionally. Stir gently so that the rice grains
do not break. Serve hot with Vegetable Korma or Chicken Korma and raita. |
