Moongodi

Moongodi is special kind of a snack dish
that is made from moong dal. It is most
popular in Gujarati cusine but is also made
in other parts of teh country as moong dal
vadas. Tasty and crisp this can be made as
an appetizer for parties. |

| 1 | cup | moong dal (split yellow lentils) | |

| 1/2 | tsp | cumin (jeera) seeds | |
| 1 | tsp | grated ginger | |
| 1 | in number | onion (chopped fine) | |
| 1 | tsp | salt (or to taste) | |
| 1 | tbsp | coriander leaves (cilantro leaves) | |
| 2 | cups | oil for deep frying | |
| Cooking procedure |
Method:
Step 1: Soak moong dal for 4 hours. Wash and drain. Take 1/2 the quantity of moong dal, add salt and
ginger paste and blend until smooth.
Step 2: Chop the green chillies into small pieces. Mix the rest of soaked dal with the chopped onions,
green chillies and chopped coriander (Cilantro) leaves. Add the cumin seeds, salt and the moong dal
paste and mix well.
step 3: Heta oil in a pan. Take a thin platic sheet or a zip loc bag. Wet one side of the plastic
sheet. Take a small lime size ball of the vada paste. Place on the oily plastic side and flatten with
finger.
Step 4: Gently remove from palstic sheet and drop in hot oil. Fry until golden brown on medium heat.
Step 5: Serve hot with ketchup or mint chutney.
