Somberi Payasam (Lazy Mans Pudding)

I do not know if this is true but my mom used to tell me that the name of this pudding is Somberi Payasam (somberi in Tamil means Lazy) because it is so easy to make. I like it more for its taste.

Preparation time ([days] hrs:min): 00:10

Cooking time ([days] hrs:min): 00:10

No. of servings: 8

List of ingredients:

  • 4 Cups milk  
  • 1/4 Cups besan (flour from split gram)  
  • 1/2 cup cashews halves (roasted in butter )  
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardomom powder  
  • 1 tablespoon ghee  

Cooking procedure:

1. Put cardomom powder in milk and bring to boil in a microwave if possible (15 minutes).

2. While the milk is boiling in a hot pan roast the Besan in the hot ghee to golden brown without burning. Keep aside and allow to cool.

3. Heat a pan on the stove top. Pour the milk into it. When it is heating add the besan. Let it cook for 4-10 minutes. Add the sugar.

4. Serve with roasted cashews.

Storage Tips:

Can be stored in refrigerator for a week.

Always serve heated though.

Please note that if you do not tell people what it is they will think it is almond kheer (Almond pudding).
