Sesame Curry

I like to share this recipe as it is different and yet simple to make. Also it does not use onions. It is a recipe my mom uses. Hope you enjoy this.

Preparation time ([days] hrs:min): 00:10

Cooking time ([days] hrs:min): 00:20

No. of servings: 10

List of ingredients:

  • 4 teaspoons sesame seeds  
  • 2 teaspoons rice flour  
  • 1 cup peas  
  • 1 cup shelled corn  
  • 2 Ridge Gourd pealed and cut into small pieces  
  • 4 Teaspoons cashewnuts cut into small pieces  
  • 2 Teaspoons cooking oil  
  • curry leaves  
  • 5 pods red chillies  
  • 1 tsp musturd seeds  
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds  

Cooking procedure:

For the Paste:

Blend to fine paste Sesame seeds, rice flour, 1 tsp Cumin seeds and 3 red chilli pods.

Heat oil in a large vessel. Roast cashews, 2 red chillies, 1 tsp Cumin seeds and curry leaves. Now add 2 cups of water and bring to boil. Add turmeric. Now add all the vegetables. Cook for about 5 minutes til the vegetables are tender. Add the paste, and salt to taste. Simmer for a few minutes and serve on hot rice.

Additional Info:

You could use almost all vegetables except bitter gourd.

Try with spinach, Dondakaya(tindora), raw banana, Cut pieces of corn etc
