Saggubiyyam Daddojanam
Well I am so tired of the typical recipes with rice. I like the flavor but would like some difference. So here is something I tried and was a hit.
Preparation time ([days] hrs:min): 01:00Cooking time ([days] hrs:min): 00:15No. of servings: 8List of ingredients:
- 1 cup saggubiyyam (soaked for 1 hour and washed and drained)
- 1 TSP urad dal
- 1 Cup yogurt
- 1 Cup milk (boiled and cooled)
- 1/4 tsp musturd seeds
- 1 pinch hing
- 1 Strand karivepaku (curry leaves)
- 3 whole green chillies
Cooking procedure:
1. Soak Saggubiyyam for 1 hour in hot water. 2. Drain and wash thoroughly. 3. Bring 3 cups water to boil. 4. Add Saggubiyyam. 5. Boil for 5-8 minutes covered and stirring occasionally in medium heat. 6. Once the saggubiyyam is cooked drain and wash again to get rid of all the excess starch. 7. Mix milk (boiled and cooled) and yogurt and salt to taste in a bowl. 8. In two teaspoons of oil season with urad dal, musturd, hing, cut green chillies and karivepaku. 9. Add the seasoning and saggubiyyam to the yogurt. Mix well and let it set for 4-6 hours. Tastes wonderful.
