Pappulla Pudi (Dry powder made with lentils)

Pappullu Pudi is usually a must in any Andhra home. It is also called Paruppu Podi in Tamil and is very popular among South Indians. It is great for a quick bite when you are very hungry, all you have to do is mix it with hor rice and ghee. It is easy to make and store.

Cooking time ([days] hrs:min): 00:05

List of ingredients:

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 cup toor dal  
  • 1/2 cup channa dal  
  • 1/4 cup moong dal  
  • 1 tbsp urad dal  
  • 2 cloves garlic (optional)  
  • 1 tbsp black pepper  
  • 8 in number dry red chillies  
  • 1/2 tsp asoefatida powder (hing)  
  • 1 tsp salt  

Cooking procedure:

Method: Fry all (except salt) the ingredients without oil separately in a pan. Add salt aand grind to a smooth powder in a mixer or grinder.

Storage Tips:

Store in an air-tight container.
