You need to have an id, mostly a state ID. Apart from that take your VISA papers. Generally it’s not important, but they might want to check it for the validity of your VISA and stuff like that. Make sure you take your passport with you. They might not check it, but it helps to keep it. As long as you have these, you’re prepared to give the test.

You may have to give an eye exam before the written exam. After you pass the written test, you’ll be given a learners permit. Make sure you keep it with you when you learn to drive, and a licensed driver should sit in the front seat of your car when you drive.
