A: You can do Vaibhava Lakshmi Vratam on Friday. You can do this for 8 weeks and then do Udyapan. You can buy the Vaibhava Lakshmi Vrat book and do the Puja.

On the day of observance of the vrat, ie; on a Friday morning, after taking bath, clean the puja room and start the puja as follows:

Light the oil lamp. Place the 'Shri Yantra' (Photograph) in front of you in the puja room. Before starting the Vaibhava Lakshmi Vrata, one should have a look at the 'Shri Yantra' with devotion and touch your hands devotedly to your eyes. Then one should bow down one's head to the photograph of 'Shri Yantra' and the 'Eight incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi' and touch with hands to one's eyes.

Place a plain red piece of cloth on Aasanam (seat or mat) in front of the yantra. Spread a handful of rice on the piece of cloth. Now place a copper or brass kalash (pot shaped vessel) filled with water on the spreaded rice. Keep a small cup (Arghyam cup) with a silver or gold coin on the Kalash. One can also keep a rupee coin if one has no silver or gold coin. Now apply sandalwood paste and kumkum to the kalash and coin. Offer red flowers (preferably).

One should recite the following shlokas : Shri Mahalakshmi Ashtakam

Namasthesthu Mahamayey ……………

LAKSHMI STHAVANA SHLOKAHA ( IN PRAISE OF GODDESS LAKSHMI)

Yaa rakthaambuja Vaasini Vilasini Chandaanshu tejaswini !! Yaa raktha rudhirambhara Harisakhi Yaa shree manolhaasini !! Yaa ratnaakara manthanaa pragantitha vishnoswaya gehini !! Saa maam paathu manorama Bhagavathi Lakshmi cha padmavathi !!

Q: Hi amma, I would like to know the procedure to perform santhoshimata vratam.Recently i have bought the pictures of mata and i'm willing to do the vratam.I'm reading the procedure from the site ,but i have some doubts. Is it compulsory to perform it for 16 weeks or i can perform it for 8 weeks .and also do i need to call the mutaidulu every fridays.can you please give me the detailed procedure to me once again. Thanking You, vvv.
-- vineela, India Aug 22 07
A: Hello Vineela,

Doing the Santoshi Mata vrat is something you have to ensure you complete and not leave undone..

The things you require to do this vrat are: 1 coconut (you must use this same coconut for all the fridays and then give it in the temple on the day you are doing the udyaapan), gud and channa, a lamp to light the diya (ghee only), green bananas, flowers, dhoop, incense sticks, a copper vessel to hold water, Santoshi Mata vrat katha book, haldi, kumkum, a photo of Santoshi Mata..

Duration: This vrat needs to be done on a Friday, the duration can continue for 16 or 32 fridays.

Vidhi: To start your vrat you will begin on a friday, Ideally best done before noon, say the Santoshi Mata katha in front of the ghee lamp if there is no one to listen to the story, One needs to fast for the whole day or incase of sickness can have one meal (without onions, garic, tomato or any other sour flavoring) It can be taken during lunch after doing a 'bhog' for Santoshi Mata.

One needs to ensure not to touch any sour things on this day. This is because Santoshi Mata is believed to sit under a milk fall and incase the 'bhakt' touches any sour thing, they not only 'bhrasht' the vrat but as Ma takes her bhakt close to her, it is believed that we also contaminate Mata's abode..

The next day after the vrat, the bhakt will first thing eat gud and channa to close the vrat and then eat as normal. Water can be had and some people also believe in having milk without sugar. The water which is in the copper vessel can be sprinkled around the house after prayers and the remaining can be put in a tulsi plant. If you do not have tulsi plant, you can add it to the drinking water in the house so everyone will be cleansed..

After the chose duration of the vrat, an udyaapan needs to be done inorder to complete the Poojan in a proper manner.. You will need to prepare items like, puri, channe ka saag, kheer, and feed 8 children (boys).. This can be done at any Santoshi Mata Temple..

After feeding them you will need to give them something too..

we should give them books, pens, and other things I believe will help them gain knowledge and the blessings of Saraswati Ma..

In no case shall you give them any money.. I hope this write up has been informative and will help clear most of your doubts..

Santoshi Mata vrat is KNOWN for its miracles! and it never fails..

Keep trust in Maan and you will get whatever you want like peace, love and economically strong.

Take care! Gaurav

Q: Do you know about mangala gowri pooja?
-- manju, uae Aug 28 07
A: Mangala Pournami Full Moon Pooja

On Managala Vaaram (Tuesday), Pournami thithi begins at 7:41 p.m. and Thiruvonam (Sravana) nakshatra at 7:45 p.m. On this Mangala Gowri Vrata day, worship the Divine Mother Gowri especially in those temples where She bears the name Gowri. Mangala Gowri Vrata has the power to give good character to one's husband

On this day, give gifts denoting auspiciousness (tumeric, kumkumam vermilion, beauty products, saris, etc.) to five different kinds of women: girls six years or younger, girls ten years or younger, young unmarried women, married women with many children and married sumangali women 60 years or older. Place these gifts in a nicely decorated baskets made out of palm leaves and give such a basket to each girl or woman. as taught by the Sathguru, Guru Mangala Gandharva Venkataraman. Each one has its own spiritual significance. When the Pournami thithi covers the time period from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., that time period is suited for Pournami pooja and Satya Narayana Pooja in both temples and homes. But for Pournami Vrata observance, the entire time period of the Pournami thithi, from its beginning to completion, should be observed as vrata. For Pournami Girivalam, the time period depends on when the Pournami full moon is at its height. Chandra Mangalam, Soma Mangalam, Somangalam - these are all temples which are ideal for worship on Pournamis that occur on Tuesdays.

uesdays are marked for worship of the Goddess Gowri or Parvati. Both married and unmarried women take part in Mangala Gowri Puja (Sravana Mangala vara vratam) in equal measure.

Q: where do i get information on latest communication technologies? iam a student of 2nd BTech ece.........
-- mahesh, india Sep 28 07
A: Hello Mahesh,

Wireless data technologies are taking center stage.

Not long ago, your crucial business data was pretty much restricted to a desktop or notebook computer. Today, you can share and access important company and Internet-based information via new wireless data devices, seemingly through thin air.

Indeed, pagers, cellular phones and handheld devices aren't what they used to be. They're not just for storing contacts, carrying on voice conversations or beeping someone to call you back. They provide access to the information you need without requiring a phone jack.

Anywayz you can get full information of any latest communication technology at this place: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/…

take care Gaur@v

Q: can we perform satyanarayana puja in the morning
-- malathi, Bangalore, India Oct 24 08
A: Yes, you can do that....

Satyanarayan Pooja is one of the best & easiest ways to seek blessings from Lord Vishnu, who is the God responsible for maintenance of this Universe. Typically Satyanarayan Pooja is to be performed before and/or after the fulfillment of our desires e.g. if you want to achieve some important milestones in your life like success in Higher Education, Success in career, promotion, buying a new vehicle, new house, starting a new business, negotiating big professional deals etc... Satyanarayan is also useful if someone in the family is not well. There is no hard and fast rule as to when Satyanarayan Pooja to be performed. Morning or evening time is ideal for Pooja. You can perform it after major achievements in life. you can take reference from Wiki also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satyan…

Q: Please suggest where can I download books for Lakshmi pooja on diwali. regards Santhi
-- Santhi, New Jersy Oct 24 08
A: Hi Santhi,

Here I am providing you some facts with a detailed description of Diwali Pooja. Please find them if your find useful... Laxmi Puja, or the worship of the goddess of prosperity and wealth, is the main event on Diwali in North and West India. It is believed that Goddess Laxmi visit everyone during Diwali and brings peace and prosperity to all. It is s extremely important to keep the house spotlessly clean and pure on Diwali. Goddess Lakshmi likes cleanliness, and she will visit the cleanest house first. This is also the reason why the broom is worshipped on this day with offerings of haldi and kumkum (turmeric and vermilion). Lamps are lit in the evening to welcome the goddess. They are believed to light up Her path.

Lord Ganesha -is worshipped at the beginning of every auspicious act as Vighnaharta; Goddess Lakshmi - is worshipped in her three forms - Mahalakshmi (the goddess of wealth and money), Mahasaraswati (the goddess of books and learning), and Mahakali; Kuber (the treasurer of the gods) is also worshipped.
